How to Handle Welfare Cases in a Nutshell is a 1-hour CLE training, aimed at legal aid attorneys new to or inexperienced with public benefits, will provide an overview of means tested benefits, CalWORKs, and qualifications and exemptions including a history of public benefits and the agencies involved. The training will also address the types of issues you may see as an advocate and problems that need immediate attention. Finally, the training will cover the basics of public benefits such as food stamps, welfare to work, homelessness assistance, and overpayment/underpayments. Advocates are encouraged to attend, participate, and ask questions about welfare cases and public benefits from an advocate with decades of experience in these important topics.
